By Anon E. Mouse
Pros: Affordably priced system with an acceptable balance of features. Good processing power, expandable memory, and expansion slots set this machine apart from lesser systems. Windows 8 comes pre-installed and the machine runs quietly.
Cons: I have only 2 features that I wish were available, and both have to do with the case rather than the hardware or performance. First - the case is designed to hold only 1 hard drive. Not a big deal, especially given the relatively inexpensive cost of large drives should you wish to replace the 500Gig drive with a larger one. Second - the case does not allow for a second ROM drive to be added. Again, this is not a huge deal as there are plenty of good external HD's and ROM drives available. This fact may be the reason such expandability was not included. These are VERY minor nits to pick in any case (no pun intended), and should in no way prevent you from purchasing this system!
I've seen others complain that they were unable to install an older OS on this machine due to EUFI security. Nonsense! This system is fully configurable to support legacy Windows or other operating systems. If you don't understand how to accomplish this, then leave it alone!
This is a good system and a good price when on sale. I can confidently recommend this system if you're looking for one in this price range.

By Laurie
I'm not giving it 5-stars because it is a 5-star computer, but because it *is* a great machine for the price (considering I paid only $339 with free Prime Shipping). I was looking for a basic, replacement desktop to go online, run MS Office, burn DVDs, etc. Nothing fancy. I wanted at least 6GB RAM and to pay less than $350. This one fit the bill. It runs much smoother and faster than I expected. Set up was flawless. Wireless works beautifully. It is also virtually silent. I agree Windows 8 is annoying, but I'll get used to it just like I did when I made the switch from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 (I was waiting in line at Egghead Software when they released it for sale at midnight 17+ years ago). It just takes some getting used to. Overall I think this desktop will serve me well and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

By Arthur S. Nacht
Spoiler alert - The bottom of this review contains info about a secret program that comes with this PC. It's not in the product info or any promotional literature for the p6-2310.
The HP p6-2310 is an outstanding price/performer for 99% of desktop computer users. It's still $339 direct from Amazon. Comes with Win 8 64 bit edition, 6 gb memory, 500 gb drive, 1 year warranty and live tech support from HP. You won't find a comparable no-name PC at this price point.
Gamers and economists building Excel models of the US economy need extra desktop power. If you're a 99 percenter like me, the p6-2310 will run your apps faster than anything you've ever experienced. Press the power switch to ON and you can begin using an app in under 15 seconds. Win 8 deserves the credit for improved boot time.
Make sure you want Win 8 before purchasing a p6-2310. Win 8 yields a very noticeable performance boost compared to Win 7. Unlike prior Windows upgrades, Win 8 requires substantial study to learn. I ordered Windows 8 For Dummies at the same time. It enabled my transition quickly and happily. The book is worth the price for the chapter "should I switch to Windows 8". If you have reservations or concerns, buy the book and read that chapter before buying any PC with Win 8 installed. Win 8 isn't worth the trouble for everyone. Buy a PC with Win 7 installed if that's right for you. It's less expensive and less traumatic than downgrading from Win 8 to Win 7.
Microsoft in their infinite wisdom, removed the START button from the lower left corner of the Win 8 desktop. For some unknown reason 99% of us can't figure out what to do without it. Shhhh...Secret program that comes with the p6-2310: Buried in the included HP utilities is "HP Quick Start". "HP Quick Start" restores the START button to Win 8.
The p6-2310 is now my primary desktop machine. At this price I'm buying another one while they last to put on the shelf for a spare.
