By EJ
We have this desktop for 1 month. So far it works great. The Windows 8 is quite stable and enjoyable. We like this desktop as it is fast enough and was very easy to install. Took me less than an hour to install all what I needed. The downside is that there are not too many Windows 8 applications so far, but I would imagine this is going to improve quickly.

By Turvalar
I recently bought a p6-2350, as well as a p7-1235, for about the same price (~$550).
Here are some thoughts on the p6-2350:
HP Pavilion p6-2350 Desktop (Black)
* get to play with Windows 8
* decent processor (3.6 GHz AMD quad core)
* decent RAM (comes with 8G, 16G max)
* despite what it says in Product Features, it does NOT come with a 1TB SSD! (duh). it's a standard 7200rpm 1TB HD
* Cyber Monday priced at $450 ish -- nice!
*** EDIT: that was Sunday night--as of Cyber Monday, it's back to $550, lol.
* "standard" stuff -- keyboard, mouse, card reader, optical drive, 4x USB 3 ports (2 in front, 2 in back = 4 -- not 2 like the description says), gigabit ethernet
* decent accelerated integrated graphics, with both DVI (digital) and VGA (analog) outputs (no HDMI), which can be used concurrently for 2 displays.
* does *not* have "Beats" audio
* does *not* have Bluetooth (but does have Wi-Fi)
so far, it seems like a solid desktop for the money.
On the p7-1235:
HP Pavilion p7-1235 Desktop (Glossy Black)
* currently over $600, putting it out of the category (imo).
* supports 32GB RAM instead of 16... fast forward a couple of years, and I'll "need" 32... 16 is ok for now, but gotta factor the "bloat" effect of software development. (Personally, I take the minimum suggested RAM, and quadruple it for a system I'll be happy with.)
In summary, the p7-1235 is a tad slower, but I don't think it will be at all noticeable. Everything else is comparable, except it supports twice the max RAM and has Beats Audio and Bluetooth. At $450 currently, however, the p6-2350 is (*WAS*) a better deal.
*** Oh ya, since the p6-2350 comes with Windows 8, it has all the new OS security stuff (after all, who would want to run anything besides MS Windows on a PC? ;-). I had to jump through an almost unbelievable bunch of hoops to get the thing to boot into a different OS from a CD. Just getting into the BIOS was a challenge (EDIT: repeatedly press

By Steven G Harrison
My old computer finally died around Thanksgiving of 2012; it was an HP as well and lasted over 7 years. Needless to say, I'm a fan of HP and believe in the quality of their computer products.
For those who are used to windows XP, windows 8 presents a bit of a learning curve. It took me about 10 days to get everything how and where I wanted it...the settings, programs I previously had, etc. (just to make it look and feel like I wanted it).
I was comparing several computers in this price range, but went with the p6-2350 mainly because of the quad-core processor. (the processor is, by all accounts, the most important part of a computer).
I'm one of those who often has two or more browsers and 15 or more tabs open at the same time, so the AMD 3.6 Ghz Quad-Core A8-5600K fits the bill. This computer is fast and is able to handle everything I've required of it so far. It's got plenty of memory (8 GB / expandable to 32 GB)....6 USB ports(2 - 3.0 USB on the front)....1 TB 7200 RPM hard drive.
Oh, and it's very quiet. (another reviewer said it was noisy, believe me, it's not)
If you want a fast computer that can handle multiple applications at the same time and do it quietly, then consider this computer.
I'm happy with my purchase and will update this review in the future.
