By M. Collin
I did plenty of research before deciding which Windows 8 device I would purchase, and I just kept on coming back to the Tap 20.
The innovative battery and portability of the PC made it the perfect combination of PC and tablet for the home.
I was worried about leaving a 24" screen for a 20", but since Windows 8 is so touch-friends and in your face, I have not noticed the size decrease.
Great screen, even though it's not 1080p.
Great for Xbox SmartGlass, and playing pinball on this thing in portrait mode is amazing.
I could not recommend this more. Go for the i7 and 8 GB of RAM though if you want it to be fast for a few years...

By M. Mullins
Well I have an awesome built computer in my Man cave (for games, video, editing etc.) I also have a tablet (hmm don't think I ever use the thing) What I really wanted that was not available a year ago was a large tablet. I actually was hoping Apple would do a bigger Ipad not a mini. (really what is a mini good for? My Iphone 5 does everything then you need something bigger like the Ipad right not something a little bigger than your phone...maybe just get a Galaxy Note or GS3) Anyway they didn't but then I saw this product. I had to get it even though the screen is not 1080 and there is no HDMI. These will probably be updated next. But those are the bad. The screen is actually very nice, no hdmi means no PS3 but then I have a place for that.
So did buyers remorse set in? NO WAY...I use this thing none stop. It sits next to my bed so we can pull up a movie and sit it on the bed (netflix, amazon prime video, etc..) or I have a computer not a tablet or phone to look up stuff or bank/stocks whatever. Also pull up pictures on 20 inches. Maybe read a book with Kindle app in landscape or portrait mode. Then I bring it downstairs and do my rosetta stone on the touch screen. Then I bring it to my keyboard room and pull up synthesia and learn a new song on the piano. Then I help my little guy in kindergarten learn his letters on it, his pictures and the older one does math on the touchscreen. See if it looks like a game with paint and colors rather than pencil and paper they actually want to "learn".
Then maybe hang around the fire and play some Monopoly or other games on it. ETC.......
Also windows 8 is pretty great on this device. (almost wish I had a windows phone now instead of the iphone) The tiles can be set as anything and really becomes faster to go where you want. Also swiping stuff out of the way or closing them is just nice.
The preloaded games look good. The pinball is pretty awesome. Turned in portrait mode makes it seem like your actually playing a pinball machine.
Overall the ability to move this from one room to another without wires is awesome. Putting it outside on the deck and using slingbox to watch the game while grilling and hanging outside is fantastic. I did get the i7 and max ram just so it can do all that I want it to do without staling. The only thing I did not get is the SSD which I want in a portable device like this (even though they do have a protection for the HDD if dropped). But the Sony upgrade was just to high. You can buy one after and install it yourself for cheaper. Also I bought a DVD/CD rom drive to hook up via USB in order to install software (like rosetta stone). Lastly I just got a PenGO brushpen for the different paint programs and stylus option. And for the kids to learn their stuff.
So for supposedly a niche market (per some reviewers) I think this is the best "toy" I have (Sonos is pretty awesome as well esp. with added airplay now!!).
I would highly recommend this product to anyone.
Oh Audio: The speakers rattle a little when turned high...but it is sorta expected with a subwoofer inside. But all in all they are great speakers and do the job well.

By John
I played around a bit with windows 8 and really thought I would hate it. I had dual touch screen laptop running windows 7 and it was more a gimmick than anything really useful.
Bought the wife a loaded Microsoft surface and was underwhelmed with it to say the least.
I researched all of the touch screen ultrabooks and tablet hybrids and kept going back to look at the Sony tap 20.
I decided to go ahead and buy one, and I honestly expected it to be another gimmicky toy that would only be used to "wow" my non techie friends.
I could not have been more wrong. I love this thing! The complaints about the screen not being 1080p (some reviews even went so far as to say the screen would give you a headache) are very overstated. The screen is beautiful. The system overall is very snappy and responsive and a real pleasure to use.
I did upgrade the processor and the memory.
I use this daily for web surfing, Xbox glass, watching movies, looking up recipes while on the kitchen, etc.
The lack of hdmi is a bummer, but not a show stopper. .
The other place I think sony could have improved on is including windows 8 PRO instead of the standard release, but if you have a pc running windows 7 its cheap enough to use that to buy an upgrade (15$ where the upgrade from windows 8 to windows 8 pro is 70$)
Over all I am very pleased with this product.
I would recommend skipping the 60$ laptop bag from Sony..it may be one of the only bags large enough for this, but the complete lack of padding for protection makes it pretty useless.
I would recommend this to any one looking for something to take the place of a desktop pc with some Mobil functionality.
